Counselling Service for Older People
Age Concern Essex offers a FREE Counselling Service for older people.
Therapeutic counselling offers a safe atmosphere where you can explore your difficulties, share your inner thoughts, feelings and reactions in a way that can bring meaning, self understanding and a greater freedom to cope. The Counsellor will not give advice but will gently assist in this process.
All Counsellors in the Age Concern Essex team are mature people either fully qualified or in the latter stages of training of a recognised counselling course. They abide by the code of practice of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work under professional supervision.
Counselling sessions are normally held in a client's home. The sessions usually take place weekly and last approximately one hour. All work is totally confidential within the Counselling Service.

CanDo Index
The Essex Coalition of Disabled People announce the introduction of CanDo index, an Internet based service to help disabled people and other disadvantaged job seekers find work. CanDo index is a means by which people can advertise their capabilities and availability to any employer who searches its database. Anyone can advertise a work profile and any employer can search the profiles and invite job applications.
CanDo index will be available on the websites of the participating organisations listed at www.candoindex.co.uk. Participating organisations are able to register their own members, advertising them to the employers with whom they regularly work and nationally to any employer. The system has the potential to become a large national database of job seekers.
